State of the Arts 2016

State of the Arts 2016 is the R.G. Endres Gallery's 10th annual juried competition held in October. The exhibition runs throughout October with a gala reception on October 14th, 2016. The juror is William Rose, a figurative/portrait artist working primarily in oil.

Eligibility is open to all artists 18 years of age or older. Acceptable work includes 2D and 3D artwork of any media that is original, not more than 2 years old, not created in a class or under supervision of another artist, and not copied from published or others' photographs without written permission. Copyright infringement will result in disqualification. All 2D artwork must be wired and ready for hanging (no clip frames, saw tooth hangers, or string hangers); framed or unframed size should not exceed 25 square feet total. All 3D work cannot exceed 48 inches in any one dimension.

Three entries are allowed per artist with an entry fee of $40 for 1 to 3 entries (non-refundable). Work samples should include 1-3 images. Awards include: $1,000 for Best in Show, $750 for two Merit Awards, $500 for People's Choice, and $100 for five Honorable Mention Awards. Only one piece per artist will be selected for final adjudication. All work must be for sale with binding prices that cannot be changed after submission. The City of Prairie Village provides insurance for artwork up to $5,000; artists are responsible for additional coverage. The gallery's sales commission is 40%. Work delivery is Monday, October 3rd, 2016 from noon to 5 PM only; late pieces will not be accepted. Artwork must be picked up Monday, October 31st, 2016 from noon to 5 PM. Any artwork unclaimed 30 days after exhibition closing becomes property of the City of Prairie Village. Artists who fail to deliver accepted work forfeit their right to exhibit and will not be considered for the following 2 years.
