State of the Arts 2015

State of the Arts 2015 is the R.G. Endres Gallery's 9th annual juried competition held in October. The exhibition runs during October with a gala reception on October 9, 2015.

Open to all artists 18 years of age or older. Both 2D and 3D artwork of any media are acceptable. Artwork must be original, not more than 2 years old, not done in a class or under supervision of another artist, and not copied from published photos or from photos taken by others without written permission. 2D artwork must be wired and ready for hanging (no clip frames, saw tooth hangers, or string hangers); framed or unframed size should not exceed 25 square feet total. 3D work cannot exceed 48 inches in any one dimension. Three entries are allowed per artist with an entry fee of $40 for 1 to 3 entries (non-refundable). Only one piece per artist will be selected by the juror for the final round of adjudication. All work must be for sale, and prices listed on the entry form are binding and cannot be changed after submission.

Awards include: $1,000 for Best in Show, $750 Merit Awards (two presented), $500 Arts Council Award, and $100 Honorable Mention Awards (five presented). The juror is Larry Thomas, professor and chair of the Fine Arts Department at Johnson County Community College. Work delivery is Thursday, October 1st, 2015 from noon to 5 PM only. The City of Prairie Village provides insurance for artwork up to $5,000; artists are responsible for additional coverage. The gallery sales commission is 40%. Artwork must be picked up Friday, October 30, 2015 from noon to 5 PM; unclaimed work after 30 days becomes property of the City of Prairie Village. Artists who fail to deliver accepted work forfeit their right to exhibit in State of the Arts for the following 2 years.
