State of New Jersey EDA Taxation Building Sculptures

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) in consultation with the New Jersey State Council on the Arts is issuing a Request for Expression of Interest to artists to design, construct, and install artwork within the Department of Taxation Building in Trenton, New Jersey. This is an Art Inclusion Project made possible through funding provided by the Public Buildings Arts Inclusion Act.

The project encompasses three separate artwork opportunities: Outdoor Sculpture (budget up to $175,000, sculpture garden area with potential for multiple pieces), Art Glass Wall (budget up to $75,000, full height digital ceramic printed art glass wall), and Wall Mounted Artwork (budget up to $75,000, 3-D sculptural piece). A future RFP will be issued for finished artwork pieces at a later date. The building is a 210,000 square foot, 8-floor state office building located at John Fitch Place in Trenton.

Artists must submit expressions of interest through CAFÉ (callforentry.org) including a letter summarizing interest and experience in public art, resume, and 4-6 photographs/images of similar public art installations with at least 3 references. Artist location must be restricted to New Jersey, Delaware, New York, or Pennsylvania. The Art Selection Committee will select up to three finalists per artwork project to proceed to the proposal phase. Shortlisted artists will receive a stipend of up to $1,000 to cover presentation preparation and travel expenses for in-person presentations at NJEDA Headquarters in Trenton.
