About This Call

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) in consultation with the New Jersey State Council on the Arts is issuing a Request for Expression of Interest to artists to design, construct, and install artwork within the Department of Taxation Building in Trenton, New Jersey. This is a public art commission opportunity made possible through the Public Buildings Arts Inclusion Act.

The 3D sculptural wall-mounted artwork project has a maximum budget of $75,000. Artists must submit a letter summarizing their interest and experience in creating public artworks, identify which artwork opportunity they are interested in, provide at least 3 references where similar work has been installed, and include a resume and 4-6 photographs/images of previous public art installations. Examples submitted must be similar to the artwork project. Artists or artist collaborations must be based in New Jersey, Delaware, New York, or Pennsylvania, as frequent project meetings and site visits will be required.

The Art Selection Committee will review submissions and select up to three artists for each artwork project to proceed to the Proposal Phase. Shortlisted artists will be required to make in-person presentations to the Art Selection Committee at NJEDA Headquarters in Trenton and will receive a stipend of up to $1,000 to cover preparation and travel costs. Submissions must be made through the Call for Entry (CAFÉ) platform at https://www.callforentry.org.
