About This Call
The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) in consultation with the New Jersey State Council on the Arts is seeking artists to design, construct, and install artwork within the Department of Health Building in Trenton, New Jersey. This is a public art commission opportunity made possible through the Public Buildings Arts Inclusion Act.
The project site is located at the corner of West Hanover Street and North Willow Street in Trenton. The artwork project involves a mural at a wall surface with a maximum budget of $75,000. Artists or artist collaborations are invited to submit Expressions of Interest (EOIs) that include a letter summarizing their interest and experience in creating public artworks, a resume, 4-6 photographs/images of similar public art installations, website links, and at least 3 references. The Art Selection Committee will evaluate submissions based on artistic excellence, appropriateness of materials, suitability for a government building, and relevant experience.
Shortlisted artists (up to 3 per project) will advance to the Proposal Phase and be required to make in-person presentations to the Art Selection Committee at NJEDA Headquarters in Trenton. Shortlisted artists will receive a stipend of up to $1,000 to cover presentation preparation and travel expenses. Artist location must be restricted to New Jersey, Delaware, New York, or Pennsylvania. Submissions must be made through the CAFÉ platform at https://www.callforentry.org.
