State of New Jersey EDA Health Building Terrazzo Floor

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) in consultation with the New Jersey State Council on the Arts is seeking artists to design, construct, and install artwork within the Department of Health Building in Trenton, New Jersey. This is an Art Inclusion Project opportunity under the Public Buildings Arts Inclusion Act.

This call is for a terrazzo floor artwork project with a maximum budget of $50,000. The project site is located at the corner of West Hanover Street and North Willow Street in Trenton. Artists must submit a letter summarizing their interest and experience in creating public artworks, identify which artwork opportunity they are interested in, include a list of at least 3 references where similar work has been installed, resume, and 4-6 photographs/images of public art installations. Examples must be similar to the terrazzo floor project. Artist location must be restricted to New Jersey, Delaware, New York, or Pennsylvania.

The selection process includes an EOI (Expression of Interest) phase where the Art Selection Committee will evaluate submissions based on artistic excellence, appropriateness of materials, suitability for a government building, and experience with the project type. Up to three artists will be shortlisted to proceed to the Proposal Phase, where shortlisted artists will make in-person presentations to the Art Selection Committee in Trenton and receive a stipend of up to $1,000 to cover preparation and travel costs. The Committee will evaluate proposals based on artistic quality, practicality, appropriateness to site, ability to meet timeline, costs, material durability, maintenance considerations, and innovation.
