About This Call
stARTup Art Fair San Francisco is a hotel art fair created by artists, for artists. The three-day fair takes place April 24-26, 2020 at Hotel del Sol, within walking distance to the nearby SF Art Market gallery fair. Selected artists will each take over a hotel room for the course of three days to present a solo show of their work to collectors, curators, gallerists, and art consultants.
The core mission of stARTup Art Fair is to provide a marketplace that gives artists the power to present and sell work on their own terms. Unlike most contemporary artist fairs, exhibiting artists keep 100% of their sales. Work will be reviewed by a Selection Committee of art world professionals including Andrew Rafacz (Owner Director, Andrew Rafacz Gallery, Chicago), Michelle Nye (Director, SFMOMA Artists Gallery, San Francisco), René de Guzman (Senior Curator of Art, Oakland Museum of California), Danielle Fox (Owner/Director, Slate Contemporary Gallery, Oakland), Carrie Lederer (Artist, Former Curator Bedford Center), and Rodney Ewing (San Francisco-based artist).
Exhibitor fees of $25 include 4 nights at the hotel, complimentary fair passes for guests, a personal artist page on the stARTup website, discounted parking, PR and marketing support through newsletter, ad buys, and social media channels, curatorial and professional development support, and automatic acceptance to Artfinder and Wescover. Applicants must submit a minimum of 5 and maximum of 20 work samples (images, audio, and/or video). International artists are eligible. The application deadline is February 23, 2020.
