Stars and Stripes: Artistic Dialogues on the American Flag

Stars and Stripes: Artistic Dialogues on the American Flag is a juried art exhibition at Adrian College's Hickman Gallery open to artists working in all media. The exhibition invites artists to explore the symbolism, history, and diverse perspectives surrounding the American flag, from traditional interpretations to avant-garde expressions. Artists aged 18 and above are welcome to submit works created within the past three years that have not been previously exhibited at Hickman Gallery.

Entry fee is $35 for up to three works. Submissions must include 1-3 images. The deadline to receive entries is April 1, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Accepted artists will be notified by email on April 5, 2024. Artwork delivery deadline is May 1, 2024. The exhibition opens May 9, 2024 with an opening reception on May 10, 2024 (time TBD) and closes July 26, 2024.

The juror will select up to 25 works for exhibition. Selected works are eligible for awards: Best in Show ($500), Second Place ($250), Third Place ($100), and up to 3 Honorable Mention awards ($50 each). All work entered must be available for sale. Hickman Gallery collects a 30% commission upon sale, with proceeds supporting the Adrian College Endowment for the Visual Arts and Exhibitions. Framed and hung 2D works may not exceed 50 inches in any direction or weigh more than 12 lbs. 3D works may not exceed 60 inches in any direction. Artwork must be gallery-ready and ready to hang. Prepaid return shipping labels must be provided with work. Artwork can be shipped to Hickman Gallery, 110 S.
