About This Call
STAR BFA Portfolio Submissions is an application process for students seeking admission to the BFA program. Students who have completed Foundation 1, 2, 3, and ART 1010 will be given priority consideration.
Applicants must submit a portfolio under one concentration area (Painting, Drawing, Photography, Visual Communication Design, 3D Studies, Multimedia Arts, or Art Education). The submission includes up to 8 artwork images or videos, a Statement of Intent (300-500 words), and a video presentation (2-5 minutes, mandatory for Visual Communication/Graphic Design and optional for other concentrations). The Statement of Intent should indicate the area of application in the first paragraph or title, demonstrate focus and direction, discuss the conceptual framework of the work, and express what drives the applicant's artistic practice. The video presentation should introduce yourself, including your potential thesis topic, social causes you care about, daily inspirations, hobbies, work experience, and interesting facts about yourself.
Submissions close on March 1, 2026 at 11:59 pm. Applicants will be notified via email by March 30th regarding whether their submission passed the respective area committee. For oversized files or questions, contact [email protected] or [email protected].
