About This Call
The St. Tammany Art Association (STAA) will present its 53rd National Juried Artists Exhibition, an annual competition of contemporary art, from July 14 to August 18, 2018. A minimum of $3,000 in cash prizes will be awarded, including a $1,000 prize for Best of Show, with additional cash and merit awards presented at the discretion of the juror. The exhibition will be held in the Miriam Barranger Gallery in historic downtown Covington. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Open to artists ages 18 and up across the United States, the exhibition accepts original visual art completed within the past two years and not previously exhibited at STAA. There are no size restrictions, though space limitations do not allow film, video, or large installations. Reproductions are not admitted. Up to three artworks may be submitted per artist for a $35.00 entry fee. Only one image may be submitted for each piece; multiple views of 3-D pieces should be joined into a single image before submission.
Online entry and payment will be accepted until 11:59 PM Mountain Time on May 16, 2018. Results will be announced on or before May 29, 2018. An artists' reception will be held Saturday, July 14, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with awards presented at 7 p.m. A closing event will be held Saturday, August 18, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. during Covington White Linen for Public Art. All events are free and open to the public. The juror is Katie Pfohl, Ph.D., Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the New Orleans Museum of Art.
Accepted pieces may be shipped to STAA between June 26-30, 2018, or hand-delivered on Friday, June 29, 4 p.m.-6 p.m., or Saturday, June 30, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. All work must be shipped via FedEx in reusable crates with pre-paid return shipping. Shipped works will be returned on Tuesday, August 21, 2018. Hand-delivered pieces may be picked up on August 21-22 during regular gallery hours. Unsold works may be removed beginning at 8:45 p.m. on August 18. Artwork not picked up within 30 days of show closing will become the property of STAA and may be sold at auction.
