About This Call
The St. Tammany Art Association presents its 51st National Juried Artists Exhibition, an annual competition of contemporary art, held July 9 to August 20, 2016, in the Miriam Barranger Gallery in historic downtown Covington. A minimum of $3,000 in cash prizes will be awarded, including a $1,000 prize for Best of Show, with additional cash and merit awards at the juror's discretion. The 2016 juror is Louisiana native Mark Biletnikoff, founder of N the Art Space and owner of Biletnikoff Gallery in Baton Rouge.
Open to artists ages 18 and up across the United States, the exhibition accepts original visual art completed within the past two years and not previously exhibited at STAA. Up to three artworks may be submitted per artist for a $35.00 entry fee. Space limitations do not allow accommodation of film, video, or large installations. Reproductions are not admitted. Online entry closes at 11:59 PM Mountain Time on May 15, 2016. Selection results will be announced on or before May 25, 2016.
Gallery hours are Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. An artists' reception will be held Saturday, July 9, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with awards presented at 7 p.m. A People's Choice cash award will be presented to the artist whose work receives the most votes by gallery visitors. A closing event will be held Saturday, August 20, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. during Covington White Linen Night. All events are free and open to the public. Accepted pieces may be shipped via FedEx with pre-paid return labels from Tuesday, June 28 through Saturday, July 2, 2016, or delivered in person on Saturday, July 2, and Tuesday, July 5, during regular gallery hours. Shipped works will be returned on Tuesday, August 23, 2016; hand-delivered pieces may be picked up Tuesday, August 23 through Saturday, August 27, during regular hours, or at 9 p.m. on August 20 after the closing event.
