St. Joseph Hospital Photo Contest

The 2016 St. Joseph Hospital Photo Contest is open to amateur photographers only. The contest runs from February 1, 2016 through April 15, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Entry fees are $10 per photo, with a $5 student discount (coupon code: STUDENT) and a $35 group discount for 5 photos when at least 10 people per group/club enter (coupon code: GROUP). There is no limit to the number of entries per person.

Photographs must be submitted in digital format at high resolution and must be original material taken by the entrant. Categories include Animals, Black and White, Flowers, Nature & Landscapes, People, and Catch-All. Photographs must not contain obscene, defamatory, sexually explicit, or objectionable content, watermarks, or previously submitted entries to prior St. Joseph Hospital Photo Contests. Photographs containing images of people, sculptures, statues, paintings, or other works of art are accepted if they do not constitute copyright infringement or fraud. Entrants must be 13 years of age or older and are responsible for obtaining all necessary releases and consents from third parties and parents/guardians of minors appearing in photographs.

Judging criteria include creativity/originality, technical excellence, composition, artistic merit, and overall impact. First Place winners in each category receive $150, Second Place $100, and Third Place $50. A Best of Show winner will be selected with a prize to be determined. Winners will be selected in early May and notified by email. All winning entrants will be invited to a reception on June 9, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. in the Hospital's Staff Room. Winning photographs will be enlarged, framed, and displayed in the hospital's common areas and patient rooms with name credit included.
