St. John's Medical Center Art Opportunities

This opportunity is for local artists in the greater Jackson area to show their work in the Professional Office Building (POB) at St. John's Medical Center in partnership with the Center for the Arts. Exhibitions are on display for 6-12 months, ideally 12 months. The artwork hangs in delineated hallways throughout the building. These artworks may be for sale through the artist or organization directly. In some cases, a percentage of the sale goes to the Hospital Foundation toward wall restoration and program maintenance.

The program aims to display work that exemplifies ways in which art can contribute to a healing environment. The St. John's Hospital Art Committee identifies work that fits within established Evidence Based Art Selection Criteria, including: waterscapes (calm or non-turbulent water), landscapes (with visual depth or open foreground, trees with broad canopy, savannah landscapes, verdant vegetation, or positive cultural artifacts), flowers (familiar, healthy and fresh, in natural settings with open foreground), figurative art (depicting emotionally positive faces, diverse and leisurely in nature), wildlife depicting healthy animals engaged in positive activities, and color palettes that are calming, natural colors or cheerful.

This call is open to amateur, emerging, and professional artists with the understanding that work will hang at its own risk as the POB cannot offer 24-hour security or added insurance coverage. Entry fee is $10.00. Applicants may submit 2 applications with 3-6 images per application.
