Spokane Watercolor Society Annual Juried Show

The Spokane Watercolor Society Annual Juried Show is open to U.S. artists 18 years of age or older. Entries must be original works created within the last two years and not previously shown in any other SWS show. Only works hand-executed in aqueous media (watercolor, acrylic, gouache, egg tempera, water-based ink) on paper supports will be accepted. Collages must be in conjunction with water media. No pastel, water-soluble oil paints, or computer-created images are permitted. Minimum image size is 10" by 14"; maximum is 22" x 30". Works must be framed under clear Plexiglas and ready to hang with screw eyes and wire. Mats must be white or cream-colored with a simple frame. Simple frames (metal or wood) have a maximum width of 3". Minimum frame size is 14" x 18"; maximum is 34" x 44"; maximum weight is 50 pounds. Source material must be wholly original and not derived from any published images.

Entry fee is $25 for SWS members or $35 for non-members, covering up to three paintings. Submit 1-3 digital images in .JPEG format at 72 DPI, no longer than 6 inches on the longest side. File names should follow the format: LastnameFirstInitialPaintingTitle.jpg. Images must be cropped to exclude frames or mats and must represent paintings exactly as submitted with no editing. All paintings must be for sale. The price listed includes a 15% commission to the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture. A minimum payment of 50% will hold the painting until the end of the show on October 30, 2016.

Accepted artwork must be hand delivered to the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture, 2316 W 1st Ave, Spokane, WA 99201 between 10:00 AM-1:00 PM on Monday, October 3, 2016. Shipped entries must be received at that address between September 28-30. Notification of acceptance will be by email on August 15, 2016. The exhibition runs October 3-30, 2016. Paintings must be picked up between 10:00 AM-1:00 PM on October 31. The juror is Gloria Miller Allen AWS. An artists' reception and award presentation will be held October 14, 5-7 PM in the MAC auditorium.
