Spokane Watercolor Society Annual Juried Show

The Spokane Watercolor Society Annual Juried Show is open to all artists 18 years of age and over. Entries must be original creations by the artist within the last two years and not previously shown in any other SWS show. Only works hand-executed in aqueous media (water-based) on paper supports will be accepted. Collages must be in conjunction with water media. If ink is used, it must comprise only 1/3 of total aqueous media. No pastel, water-soluble oil paints, or computer-generated images are accepted. Minimum image size is 10" x 14"; maximum is 22" x 30". Works must be matted (white or cream colored with simple frame) and framed with metal or wood only, maximum frame width of 3 inches. Maximum frame size is 34" x 44" and maximum weight is 50 pounds. Works must be under clear Plexiglas and ready to hang with screw eyes and wire placed 1-2" from the top of the frame.

Entry fee is $25.00 for Spokane Watercolor Society members or $35.00 for non-members, covering up to three paintings. Digital entries in JPEG format (72 DPI, no longer than 6 inches on the longest side) are required. Shipped paintings must be received by September 27, 28, or 29. Other accepted artwork must be hand-delivered to the Museum of Arts & Culture, 2316 W. 1st Ave., Spokane, WA on Monday, October 2 between 10 am and 1 pm. The exhibition runs October 6-29, 2017, with an opening reception on October 6 as part of First Friday. An artists' workshop and reception with Jean Pederson will be held October 18-20. All paintings must be for sale, with the MAC receiving a 15% commission. Notifications of acceptance will be made by August 14.
