About This Call
The Spokane Watercolor Society presents its 2026 National Juried Show, open to artists living in the United States who are 18 years or older. The exhibition runs from May 8-June 14, 2026, with entry deadline February 9, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Artists may submit a maximum of two original watercolor paintings executed after January 1, 2024, that have not been exhibited in any previous juried SWS exhibition. All paints and media must be water-soluble (watercolor, gouache, acrylic, casein, or ink) applied directly to natural fiber paper or illustration board. The visible painting area must be a minimum of 8" on the shortest side and maximum of 30" on the longest side.
Entry fees are $45 for the first painting and $25 for the second (SWS members receive $10 discount on first entry with coupon). Awards include First Place ($600), Second Place ($400), Third Place ($300), Juror's Choice Award ($100), and two Honorable Mentions ($100 each), plus possible sponsor merchandise. Traditional matting and framing with polycarbonate or acrylic glazing is required (no glass), with maximum weight of 40 lbs. Contemporary alternative finishes are also accepted per SWS guidelines.
Acceptance notification will be sent by email on or before February 23. Final judging of original paintings takes place April 8 at the museum, with awards presentation on May 16 at the exhibition reception. Artists receive 80% of sale price for sold works, with 20% going to SWS. All accepted paintings must remain for the duration of the exhibition and be retrieved on June 15, 2026 between 10:00 am and noon.
