About This Call
The Spokane Watercolor Society invites artists living in the United States, age 18 and older, to submit original watercolor paintings for the 2025 National Juried Show. The exhibition runs April 3-5, 2025. Artists may submit a maximum of two paintings.
Eligibility and Requirements: Paintings must be original works executed after January 1, 2023, and not previously exhibited in a juried SWS exhibition. All paints and media must be water-soluble (watercolor, gouache, acrylic, casein, or ink). Paintings must be accomplished directly on natural fiber paper or illustration board. Collage or other media may comprise up to 20% of the work, using only original designs on watercolor paper. The visible painting area must measure a minimum of 8 inches on the shortest side and a maximum of 30 inches on the longest side. Unsuitable material and nude representations will not be hung. AI-generated images may not be used for reference material or submitted as artwork.
Submission and Fees: Entry is completed online at www.callforentry.org. The entry deadline is February 9, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Nonmember entry fees are $45 for the first painting and $25 for the second. SWS members receive reduced fees with coupon codes ($35 for the first painting, $25 for the second). Submissions must include JPG or JPEG images at 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side and 2-5 megabytes in file size. Framing must have a professional appearance with polycarbonate or acrylic glazing (glass not allowed). Maximum weight is 40 lbs.
Awards and Sales: Awards include First Place ($600), Second Place ($400), Third Place ($300), Juror's Choice Award ($100), and two Honorable Mentions ($100 each). Accepted artists receive 80% of sale prices, with 20% going to SWS. Paintings must remain hung for the duration of the exhibition. Pickup is Monday, May 5, 2025 between 10:00 a.m. and noon. Insurance is the sole responsibility of the artist.
