About This Call
The Spokane Watercolor Society invites artists living in the United States who are 18 years or older to submit original watercolor paintings for this juried exhibition. The exhibition runs April 8–May 5, 2024.
Eligibility and Requirements: Each painting must be an original work executed after January 1, 2021 and not previously exhibited in a juried SWS exhibition. Artists may not submit copies or likenesses of another artist's work or use reference materials not attributable to them. All paints and media must be water-soluble (watercolor, gouache, acrylic, casein, or ink). Paintings must be accomplished directly on natural fiber paper or illustration board. Collage or other media may comprise up to 20% of the painting, using only original designs on watercolor paper; computer reproductions are not allowed. The visible painting area must be a minimum of 8 inches on the shortest side and a maximum of 30 inches on the longest side. Unsuitable material and nude representations will not be hung. Accepted paintings cannot be substituted or withheld from the exhibition.
Submission and Fees: Submit up to two paintings online at www.callforentry.org with JPG or JPEG images (1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side, 2–5 MB). Entry deadline is February 11, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Nonmember entry fees are $45 for the first painting and $25 for the second. SWS members receive reduced fees with coupon codes. Framing must have a professional appearance with polycarbonate or acrylic glazing (no glass). Maximum weight is 40 lbs. Awards include First Place ($600), Second Place ($400), Third Place ($300), Juror's Choice Award ($100), and two Honorable Mentions ($100 each). Accepted artists will be notified by email and must provide an artist biography, statement, and headshot. Paintings must be retrieved May 6, 2024 between 10:00 a.m. and noon. Artists are responsible for insurance and all shipping arrangements.
