Spokane Watercolor Society 2018 Juried Show

The Spokane Watercolor Society invites U.S. artists 18 years of age or older to submit original watercolor works created within the last two years. The juror of selection and awards is Birgit O'Connor, a watercolor painter and instructor with work published in over 30 national and international publications.

Eligibility and Requirements: Entries must be original creations not previously shown in any other SWS show, with source material wholly original and not derived from published images. Only hand-executed aqueous media (watercolor, acrylic, gouache, egg tempera, water-based ink) on paper supports are accepted; collages must be consistent with water media. No pastel, water-soluble oil paint, or computer-generated images. Minimum image size is 10" by 14"; maximum is 22" by 30". All paintings must be matted and framed with white or cream-colored mats (no mat decoration), simple metal or wood frames with maximum 3" width, and framed under Plexiglas. Frame size range is 14" by 18" minimum to 34" by 44" maximum, with maximum weight of 50 pounds. Paintings of nude subjects will not be accepted.

Entry fees are $40 for the first entry and $20 for each additional entry (non-members); SWS members pay $20 for the first and $15 for each additional. Digital entries must be submitted by July 20, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. MDT via callforentry.org. Submit 1-3 images in JPEG format, 72 dpi, no longer than 6 inches on the longest side. Accepted artists will be notified by August 20, 2018. Paintings must be delivered or mailed by October 10-12 (mailed) or October 15 (hand-delivered) to the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture. The exhibition opens October 18 with an opening reception from 5-8 p.m. and closes November 11. All accepted paintings must be for sale with a 15% commission to the society. A biennial workshop with juror Birgit O'Connor will be held October 16-19 at Spokane Art Supply.
