About This Call
The Spokane Watercolor Society 2015 Juried Show is open to US and international artists 18 years of age and older. The juror is Bev Jozwiak, an international award-winning artist with signature status in the American Watercolor Society, National Society, and Watercolor West.
Eligibility: Entries must be original creations by the artist within the last two years and not previously shown in any other SWS show. Source material must be wholly original and not derived from published images. Only works hand-executed in aqueous media (watercolor, acrylic, gouache, egg tempera, and up to 10% water-based ink) on paper supports will be accepted. Collages must be in conjunction with water media. No pastel, water-soluble oil paints, or computer-created images. Minimum image size is 14 by 10 inches. Maximum framed size is 44 by 34 inches with a maximum weight of 40 pounds. Works must be framed under Plexiglass and ready to hang with screw eyes and wire. Mats must be white or cream-colored with a simple frame; white or colored liners may be used (maximum 1/2 inch for white, 1/4 inch for colored). No mat decoration of any kind.
Entry fee is $25.00 plus a $2.50 media fee. Submit 1-3 digital images in JPEG format (72 ppi/dpi, minimum 1920 pixels on longest side) through callforentry.org by July 31, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. File names should follow the format: LastnameFirstInitialTitle.jpg. Accepted paintings must be delivered by hand to the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture (2316 W. First Avenue, Spokane, WA 99201) between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2015, or received by mail by that date. All paintings must be for sale. The price includes a 15% commission to the MAC. Notification of acceptance will be posted by September 1, 2015. The exhibition runs October 1-29, 2015, with a First Friday reception on October 2 and an Artist's Reception and Awards Presentation on October 11. A 3-day artist workshop will be held October 9-11 at Spokane Art Supply.
