About This Call
The Spokane Public Facilities District and the Spokane Arts Commission will commission an artist or artist team to work on site improvements for several indoor locations at the Spokane Convention Center.
Project Scope: All artwork will be indoors and may be a wall piece or overhead sculpture. The artwork should be welcoming and an enhancement to the visual appearance of the Convention Center, appealing to a broad age range and uplifting and stimulating to the spirit, intellect and physical senses. The artwork will be in the public use area and will be seen by all clients, residents, and staff. Artwork should show a connection to the region and the unique attributes of the City of Spokane. Environmental stewardship is ideal given the Convention Center is a "Green" building.
Budget and Compensation: The total project budget is $45,000. Artists will be compensated for artist fees, fabrication, insurance, travel, installation, documentation, and all related costs. Following artist selection, a scope of work will be developed with the artist/artist team, design team, and community members. At the successful completion of the design phase, the artist/artist team and/or appropriate fabricators will be engaged to create the work of art.
Selection Jury: Public Facilities District Board Members and staff and Spokane Arts Commission Members. Selection Criteria include artistic merit, relationship to the site and project intent, the artist or artist team's demonstrated ability to carry out the project, ease and cost of maintenance, and safety of the artwork.
Artist Eligibility: Artists, architects, or teams of artists residing in the Inland Empire of Washington, Idaho, and Eastern Oregon. Work sample requirement: 20 images.
