Spirited: OMA Artist Alliance at Brooks Theater

This is a call for OMA Artist Alliance members to submit entries for Spirited, an exhibition at Brooks Theater Gallery in downtown Oceanside. Artwork will be juried and exhibition layout designed by Carol Naegele, Brooks Theater Gallery Curator. The exhibition is not strictly themed, but artists are encouraged to submit work that explores the winter spirit in any form, including subjects related to winter-season holidays, traditions, natural scenes, or abstract expressions of joy, comfort, celebration, or nostalgia.

All submissions must be original works of art. No giclees or other reproductions are accepted, with the exception of limited edition prints and photography. Artwork may be in any style, and tasteful nudity is acceptable. A maximum of three artworks per artist will be selected. Size restrictions apply: maximum dimensions are 60" high x 48" wide, with a maximum depth of 4" for ADA compliance. Only three large artworks at or near maximum dimensions can be accommodated; artists should submit a range of sizes. Works on paper must be framed with simple, neutral frames. All artwork must be wired and ready to hang with a label on the back listing the artist's name, title, dimensions (without frame), medium, and sales price. Artwork requiring special or unusual lighting, electricity, or installation methods cannot be accommodated. 3D sculptures, jewelry, and small items will not be considered.

Entry fee is $20 for the first submission and $10 for each additional submission. Scholarships are available; contact [email protected] for consideration. Artists must be current OMA members with the Artist Alliance affiliate membership add-on. The submission deadline is October 1, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Selected artists will be notified on October 22, 2024. Artwork drop-off is November 12, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The public reception is December 6, 2024 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The exhibition runs November 15, 2024 through January 5, 2025. Artwork pick-up is January 7, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
