About This Call
The Fort Collins Lincoln Center invites visual artists living in the United States and working in any media to enter Specific Environments: Landscape as Metaphor, a national juried art exhibit with an invitational component. This exhibition focuses on work that stretches the idea of how we view our environment, surroundings, and the 'scape and scope' of the land as metaphor for something else entirely. The exhibition is meant to be a catalyst for new ideas, interpretations, and understanding of the human relationship to the land. All media are encouraged, including small installations and new media.
Artists must be 18 years or older, living in the United States, with entries of original design completed within the past two years (after August 2009). Submissions may include up to 6 images or up to 3 video artworks, with a minimum of 1 and maximum of 6 total samples. Artists applying with 3-D works may submit one additional view. An artist statement (not to exceed 1000 characters) must address how submitted artworks address the exhibition theme. The entry fee is $35 (non-refundable).
Over $1,750 in cash prizes will be awarded, including a first prize of $1,000. Notification to artists will be October 28, with artwork delivery by November 28. The exhibition runs December 2, 2011 to January 14, 2012, with a reception on Friday, December 9, 2011. Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping and insurance. The Lincoln Center will insure artworks for their insurance value while on premises. Artwork will be shipped from the Lincoln Center by January 27, 2012.
