About This Call
Speaking of Fibers 2019! Stories of Importance is an exhibition held at Maryville University, Morton J. May Gallery, 650 Maryville Dr., St. Louis, MO 63141, from October 31 through December 13, 2019. The exhibition is open only to current MoFA members. Entry fee is $30 for individual work (up to 3 pieces) or $30 for collaborative work (up to 3 pieces). Artists may submit 2-6 images of their work.
The exhibition features primarily fiber artworks in 2D and 3D. All pieces must be artists' original concept and connected to the theme "Stories of Importance." Restrictions include: no ceiling hung work, no perishable organic material, and components must fit through a standard door. All accepted pieces must be ready to install with clear instructions and are expected to remain in the show from beginning to end. Artists must include an artist statement (maximum 1000 characters) for each piece describing their thought process, inspiration, and concept.
Accepted works must be delivered October 8 & 9, 2019. A reception and juror talk will be held October 31 at 5:00-7:00 PM. Best of Show will be awarded at the reception, with additional awards possible as determined by the juror. Artists must pick up work December 14, 2019, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, or arrange alternative pickup. Work shipped without prepaid return shipping will not be returned without prior compensation. Notifications will be emailed July 10, 2019.
