About This Call
Speaking of Fibers 2017: An Altered Environment is a juried fiber art exhibition open to current Missouri Fiber Artists (MoFA) members. The exhibit will be juried by Amanda McCavour, a fiber artist from Toronto, Canada with a BFA from York University and an MFA from Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia.
Eligibility and Requirements: Work must have been completed in the past two years (since January 2015) and must fit the theme "An Altered Environment." No ceiling hung work or perishable organic materials are permitted. All pieces must be the artist's original design, and components must fit through a standard door. Individual artists may submit up to 3 artworks with artist statements (limited to 75 words per entry). Each artwork should include 2 images (a regular shot and a detail shot) for a total of up to 6 images. Collaborative work is accepted. The entry fee is $25 for up to 3 individual pieces, with an additional $25 for up to 3 collaborative pieces.
All entries must include a sale price or "Not for Sale" designation and an insurance value. The insurance value under Maryville's insurance is 50% of the sale price. Artists are responsible for insuring their work until it reaches the gallery. Sales are directly from the artists, and Maryville does not charge a commission. Artwork must remain in the show until December 16, 2017. The exhibition runs November 9 – December 15, 2017 at Maryville Morton J. May Foundation gallery, 650 Maryville Dr., St. Louis, MO 63141.
