About This Call
The Florence Quater Gallery at Southwest University of Visual Arts is seeking artwork in any medium for the annual Spark exhibition. Spark is a juried exhibition that showcases the diversity and creativity of artists who have completed their undergraduate degrees and are ready for the next phase of their artistic careers.
All artists and designers who have completed a BA or BFA degree in art or design prior to August 2020 are eligible to apply. The entry fee is $50.00. Exhibition submissions must include proof of graduation, 5 works of art or design in any medium available for exhibition between August 24–September 25, 2020, an image list with title, date, dimensions and medium, an artist statement, and a resume or curriculum vitae. Artwork must be delivered to Florence Quater Gallery on SUVA's Tucson campus by August 14. The exhibition opens August 24, with an opening reception on September 3 from 5pm-7pm, and closes September 25. Artwork will be shipped back to artists on October 2. Artists are responsible for all costs associated with delivery and return of artwork.
SUVA also offers two tuition scholarship opportunities for the MFA Program: a 50% tuition scholarship through four semesters and a 25% tuition scholarship through four semesters. Artists interested in scholarship consideration must submit a graduate application form, unofficial or official transcripts showing date of graduation, 15-20 works of art and/or design in any medium (with five available for exhibition), an image list indicating which five works are for exhibition consideration, a resume or curriculum vitae, an artist statement, a statement of intent (500 words minimum) for SUVA's Master of Fine Arts program, and three academic or professional letters of recommendation emailed directly to [email protected] with subject line "Letter of Reference" and applicant's name. Selected artists and scholarship recipients will be announced July 17.
