About This Call
Southwestern Watercolor Society's 56th Annual Member Exhibition is open to all SWS members in good standing. 2019-2020 membership dues must be paid by May 31, 2019, either through PayPal on www.swswatercolor.org or by check sent to the SWS Treasurer, Pam Wilson, 8405 Ardsley Place, McKinney, TX, 75072. Members may join at the time of entry.
The entry fee is $45.00 for up to three paintings maximum, paid online through the CAFE website. Only one entry per artist will be accepted into the show. All work must be original water media on paper or Yupo, painted after January 1, 2017. Accepted water media include watercolors, acrylics, inks, gouache, casein, egg tempera, watercolor pencils and watercolor crayons. Work must be original; no copies of another artist's work, computer-generated materials, or paintings done in a class or workshop are accepted. No diptychs, triptychs, or nudes are permitted. Minimum painted image size without mat or frame is 100 square inches; maximum outside framed size is 46 inches in either direction. The mat must be single and white or off-white. Media must be under clear unscathed Plexiglas, not glass. Works must be wired and ready to hang with backing.
The exhibition will be held at Eisemann Center, 2351 Performance Dr., Richardson, TX 75082. The show opens Wednesday, August 28, 2019, and closes Saturday, September 28, 2019. Hand-delivered entries must be picked up by Monday, September 30, 2019, by 1:30 PM, or a storage fee of $10.00 per day will be charged. Accepted paintings will be handled by Navis Pack and Ship with a $55.00 handling fee. The Eisemann Center will receive a 15% commission on paintings sold. Over $8,000 in cash and merchandise will be awarded, including Best of Show ($1,500), Edgar A. Whitney ($1,000 for transparent watercolor only), 1st Place ($750), 2nd Place ($500), and 3rd Place ($300). The juror is Vladislav (Vlad) Yeliseyev, AIS, NWS. Acceptance notification will be sent by email on Sunday, July 14, 2019.
