About This Call
The Southwestern Watercolor Society (SWS) is a prestigious national organization celebrating its 52nd anniversary with approximately 400 members throughout the USA. This exhibition is open to all SWS members in good standing.
Entry fees are $35.00 for one painting, $40.00 for two paintings, or $45.00 for three paintings. Submissions must be original water media on paper or Yupo, including watercolors, acrylics, inks, gouache, casein, egg tempera, watercolor pencils, and watercolor crayons. Paintings must have been created in the last two years (after January 1, 2013) with no instructor supervision. Source materials must be original with no copies of other artists' work or photographs. Minimum painted image size without mat or frame is 100 square inches. Works must have a white or off-white mat, be framed simply, and placed under plexiglass with "D" ring hanging hardware. No diptychs, triptychs, or nudes are accepted. Only one entry per artist will be accepted into the show.
Juror is M.E. "Mike" Bailey, AWS, NWS. Awards include Best of Show ($1,500), Edgar A. Whitney ($1,000), 1st Place ($750), 2nd Place ($500), and 3rd Place ($300), with more than $5,000 in total cash and merchandise to be awarded. The exhibition opens September 2nd at the Eisemann Center with an awards reception on September 20th and closes September 27th. Accepted paintings can be shipped via Craters and Freighters with a $45.00 handling fee, or hand-delivered by August 31st. The Eisemann Center receives a 15% commission on paintings sold.
