About This Call
The Southern Printmaking Biennale VIII International is an exhibition open to all artists 18 years and older residing anywhere globally. Entry is open to all artists working in any hand-pulled printmaking medium. Submissions must be original, innovative works in all printmaking media including mono-prints, monotypes, large-scale prints, three-dimensional prints, created at any point in your career. Each artist may submit 3 to 5 prints for an entry fee of $35.00 USD.
The distinguished juror for the 2018 Southern Printmaking Biennale VIII International is Aaron Coleman, Assistant Professor of Art at the University of Arizona. Aaron received his MFA from Northern Illinois University in 2013 and has taught printmaking at California State University Fresno and Northern Illinois University. His work is held in collections including The University of Colorado, Wichita State University, the Ino-cho Paper Museum in Kochi, Japan, The Yekaterinburg Museum of Art in Yekaterinburg, Russia, and the University of Tennessee Knoxville's Ewing Gallery Collection.
The award is a one-person exhibition in the Fall of 2019, and the winner will serve as Juror for the Southern Printmaking Biennale IX International 2020. In 2024 a retrospective exhibition of all one-person exhibition winners will be held. The exhibition runs October 1-26, 2018 at the Bob Owens Art Gallery. A full-color catalog will be sent to all accepted artists and will illustrate the entire exhibition with statements by the Juror and Curator. Work must be suitable for gallery presentation, securely framed, wired and ready to hang with white or off-white mats and neutral frames. Only Plexiglas glazing is permitted. Digital submissions must be JPEG files at 1800 pixels on the longest side with 300 dpi resolution, named as lastname_firstname_entry#.jpg.
