Southern Futurism

Southern Futurism is an exhibition seeking contemporary artists' depictions of the schism and reconciliation of what might be called the New Southern Futurism. Like the Futurists of the early 20th century, we live in a world immersed in technology, urban trappings, speed, information, connectivity and change. Viewing it through a southern lens, tinted by tradition, can result in modern dissonance. The exhibition will run January 30 - April 7, 2017, with a reception held on March 25, 2017.

Artists of many different media are eligible to submit entries, including painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, photography, fiber art, and graffiti art. All 2-D work may not exceed 7'H x 7'L feet in height and must be professionally framed and ready-to-hang. All 3-D work may not exceed 150 pounds and must be ready-for-exhibition. Artists may submit up to 5 works for consideration. An artist statement of no more than 2000 characters should be included with submissions. The entry fee is $25.00.

Artwork must be delivered no later than 5pm, January 27, 2017. Installation will occur January 28 and 29, 2017. Artist notification will be January 9, 2017. The Gallery will retain 30% commission on any sale of artwork sold through the exhibition. The Gallery will maintain insurance on all works while on the premises. Works are not insured during shipment. If artwork is not collected by April 13 at 5pm, a daily $20 storage fee will be accrued.
