About This Call
This is a virtual exhibition open to all current Southeastern Pastel Society (SPS) members. Membership can be renewed or new members can join at southeasternpastel.com/join prior to submission. Members must be current with 2023 dues.
Artists may submit up to 5 paintings, with a maximum of 2 paintings per artist accepted into the exhibition. Entry fees are $35 for members and $50 for non-members for up to 2 images, with $10 for each additional image up to 5 total. Paintings do not need to be for sale. Artwork must be at least 80% soft pastel and cannot be more than 3 years old. Paintings cannot have appeared in any previous SPS Members', National, or International exhibitions. Artwork cannot have been painted under instructor supervision, in a class, or copied from published photos. SPS encourages artists to submit new work not included in national shows during the last 24 months and recommends not submitting entries into shows running concurrently.
Awards include Best in Show ($1,000), First Place ($750), Second Place ($500), Third Place ($350), and six Honorable Mentions ($75 each). Five Awards of $300 each for Exceptional Merit and five Awards of $150 each for Merit are available, one per category: Portrait/Figure, Still Life/Floral, Animal/Wildlife, Abstract/Non-Objective, and Open. Submissions must be high-quality JPEG files at least 1920 pixels on the longest edge with a maximum file size of 30 MB. Images should show only the artwork without matting, frames, or background. Entry deadline is October 16, 2023. Questions should be directed to [email protected].
