About This Call
The 2020 Art-on-Loan Program, administered by the South Suburban Public Art Committee (SSPAC), accepts proposals to promote and highlight local and Colorado artists and their work. The program is a year-long outdoor exhibit designed to promote public interest in art, develop community pride, and enhance the visitor experience around the Goodson Recreation Center and The Hudson Gardens & Events Center.
SSPAC seeks applications for up to three sculptures to be placed outdoors at Goodson Recreation Center (6315 South University Blvd., Centennial, CO 80121) and up to two at The Hudson Gardens & Event Center (6115 S. Santa Fe Drive, Littleton, CO 80120). At Goodson, sculptures will be displayed on three existing concrete pads (36" diameter, approximately 18" height) near the main entrance. Each pad has an embedded steel plate (24" x 24" x 1/2") for welding. Sculptures must fit on the provided pads and cannot exceed 4,000 pounds. At Hudson Gardens, two outdoor display pedestals will be constructed with no size restriction, but overall weight cannot exceed 4,000 pounds. Proposed sculptures must be appropriate for outdoor public display, of high artistic quality, original works, durable, non-breakable, relatively maintenance-free, and meet standards for public safety and structural integrity.
Eligibility is open to all artists residing in Colorado with appropriate background, experience, and reputation. Each application represents one artwork and should include three different images of the same work. Artists may submit up to three different pieces, one per application. A $500 Exhibitor's Honorarium is provided to each selected artist after installation in June 2020. Sculptures must be loaned for a one-year exhibition period and must be available for sale. If sold, the artwork must remain on display for the duration of the exhibition. The artist is responsible for transporting the artwork, providing an appropriate pedestal if required, making necessary modifications for mounting, all sales transactions and applicable taxes, and insuring their own work. A 20% commission to SSPRD applies if artwork is sold. Submission deadline: Tuesday, February 11, 2020.
