South Carolina Watermedia Society: 47th National Exhibition

The South Carolina Watermedia Society (SCWS) invites artists to submit work for its 47th National Exhibition, a high-caliber juried exhibition that draws national participation. The exhibition will be held in South Carolina and is juried by Ken Call, a professional artist and signature member of multiple national watercolor societies. Since its founding in 1977, SCWS has promoted the artistic and professional interests of its members and provided visual arts programs and education opportunities to the public.

All entries must be original watermedia paintings (watercolor, acrylic, gouache, etc.) executed entirely by the entrant. Collage is acceptable if the work is primarily painted. Digital media, photography, prints, and oils are not permitted. Work previously exhibited in any SCWS National juried exhibition or SCWS Online Member Exhibition is not eligible. Artwork must be framed and ready for hanging with maximum dimensions of 48" in either direction (including frame) and maximum depth of 2¾". Minimum size is 80 square inches. Frames must be museum-style unadorned natural wood or black, maximum 2¾" wide. Plexiglas/acrylic 1/8" glazing is required for pieces on paper unless sealed/varnished on a rigid surface.

Entry fees are $60 for non-members and $20 for members, with a $20 fee for a second entry. An additional $25 handling fee applies for shipped pieces. Entries open April 14 and close June 1 at midnight MST. Notifications of acceptance will be emailed July 5. Shipped paintings are due September 18-25, with hand-delivered paintings accepted September 24-25. The opening reception is October 3, 5:30-7:30 pm, and the exhibition closes December 29. A workshop with juror Ken Call is scheduled October 1-3, 9am-4pm.
