South Carolina Watermedia Society: 45th National Exhibition

The South Carolina Watermedia Society's 45th Annual National Exhibition will be held at Lipscomb Gallery, SC State Museum, 301 Gervais Street, Columbia, SC 29201. Since its founding in 1977, SCWS has promoted the artistic and professional interests of its members and provided visual arts programs and education opportunities to the public. This high-caliber, juried exhibition draws national participation and is selected by a professional juror.

Entry Requirements: Works must be original, painted within three years of the entry date, and not previously displayed in a SCWS Exhibition. All entries must be executed in watermedia (watercolor, acrylic, gouache, etc.). Collage is acceptable if primarily painted. No oils or water soluble oils are permitted. Works must be created on any surface that allows framing (required unless on canvas with finished edges or gallery wrapped). Maximum size is 48" in either direction including frame, with maximum depth of 2¾" and maximum weight of 25 lbs. Frames must be maximum 2¾" wide flat-face museum style unadorned natural wood (no black, white, or metal frames). Plexiglas/acrylic 1/8" glazing must be used for pieces on paper unless sealed/varnished on rigid surfaces. Mats must be white, off-white, or pale grey. Student entries (high school and college through age 25) must be original from concept to completion, executed exclusively by the student.

Fees: Entry fee is $60 for one entry (first entry of paid members is included in membership). Second entry is $20. An additional $25 handling fee applies for shipped pieces. Submissions require 1-2 images. Entry deadline is June 11, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Accepted artists will be notified July 9. Delivery of accepted entries is August 13-14. The exhibition opens August 27 with an opening reception at 6:00 p.m. and closes January 8, 2023.
