About This Call
Arts & Venues Denver is seeking an artist or artist team for a site-specific public art commission along South Broadway between Arizona and Yale Avenues. This commission is open to artists and artist teams working in all media. The estimated budget for artwork is $250,000.
The selection panel has identified a variety of possible opportunities and invites creative proposals. Artworks of appropriate scale and relevant materials will be considered, including potential signature/gateway pieces, place-making artwork, or interactive components. The panel is open to artwork in all media and materials, including kinetic or light-based media, and seeks a unique, one-of-a-kind artwork that embraces the eclectic makeup and historical diversity of South Broadway. All public art projects in Colorado must be fabricated of highly durable, low-maintenance materials. Semi-finalists are encouraged to consult with a professional conservator prior to final proposal submission.
Applicants must submit eight digital images, a résumé, and a statement of interest of no longer than 2000 characters via www.callforentry.org. From these applications, the selection panel will choose three to five semi-finalists for interviews. If a formal proposal is requested, the artist will receive a $1000 honorarium to prepare and present the proposal in person. Artists working in any media are eligible to apply, including emerging artists. Single artists or multi-person collaborations may apply. The deadline for entry is Friday, December 28, 5:00 p.m. MST. Semi-finalist selection is scheduled for January 2013, finalist selection for February 2013, and finalist notification for March 2013.
