About This Call
One artist will be selected to design artwork to be incorporated into the South 8th Ave Entryway project site. The artist will be selected based on past experience with collaborative projects and past work that exhibits style and materials appropriate to the site. Artwork showing a connection with existing Greeley Entryway themes, such as the natural grass design on the Hwy 34 Entryway or the 11th Ave entrance to Greeley near Hwy 34, will be given priority.
The selected artist will work with a project team, architects, engineers, and managers to designate opportunities and develop a design for art within the project. A minimum of two progress reports will be required showing the evolution of the artist's design. This approach requires good collaborative skills, creativity, flexibility, and an open mind. Final design work must be original and must include all details necessary for the fabrication and installation of actual artwork. Final approval will be based on aesthetic merit, originality and creativity or innovation, appropriateness to the high visibility intersection, as well as structural soundness and vandal resistance.
The selected artist will receive $50 an hour, not to exceed $900 for the design. The design may be used for the fabrication and installation of the artwork at the site by October 15, 2014 by an artist of the City's choosing. A separate budget not to exceed $15,000 will be available for fabrication and installation. The Design Consultant may be commissioned, at the City's discretion, to create artwork from the final design for the site with or without any further bidding process.
Submission Requirements: Artist Resume showing previous experience working with project teams, architects, engineers, and managers, and experience with the manufacture and installation of similar art designs, including letters of reference. A Letter of Intent describing the expected design approach, type of materials that might be used, and knowledge of the physical setting and context of the 8th Ave & 22nd St intersection. Up to 6 digital images of completed past work (conceptual drawings will not be viewed). No project proposal is desired at this time. Incomplete or late entries will not be considered.
