Soul of Italy 2nd Juried Art Show

Italians in DC presents "Soul of Italy," a juried art exhibition featuring works inspired by Italian culture. The exhibition takes place at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington DC on May 20, 2012. A reception will be held in the Compass Room from 5 to 8 PM and will include an award ceremony and keynote speaker with wine and cheese tasting.

The exhibition showcases the connection of selected artists with Italy in all its expressions. The subject "Soul of Italy" can be interpreted freely: artists or artwork inspired by Italian culture, art, literature, music, landscape, people, food, or other expressions. Artists may submit up to three entries total. Two-dimensional work (painting, photos, drawings) must be framed and ready to hang; watercolors, pastels, and photographs must be under glass or Plexiglas. Maximum size is 6 feet in any direction. Sculptural and ceramic work must fit through a 3' by 8' door and weigh less than 100 pounds. Installations over 3' by 8' by 5' are eligible for outside space. Video works are eligible and will be presented on flat screen monitors; video projections will not be accepted. All artwork must be original.

Eligibility is open to art students enrolled or artists over 18 years of age. Entry fee is $20 per submission (limit three works). Notification of accepted work will be via email on May 1, 2012. Four $300 awards will be given for outstanding artworks, and up to $2,500 in purchase awards may be given by sponsors. Works can be hand delivered or shipped; artists are responsible for all shipping charges. The Italians in DC association will not be responsible for damage or loss.
