Something Red 2025 Call to Artists

Something Red is AiA's 23rd annual juried exhibition and call for art centered around the color red. The call is open to all Oregon visual artists and is presented by Artists in Action and Elsinore Framing & Fine Art Gallery. Artists do not need to be AiA members to participate.

Artwork must incorporate true RED as a focal point or primary color in the composition. All mediums and styles of visual art are considered, including painting, collage, textiles, sculpture, photography, and mixed media. Artists may submit up to three works. Entry fees are: AiA Members in good standing $35, non-member artists $45, and students (up to age 25) $25. Registration and entry submission opens Monday, October 6th, 2025, with a deadline of Saturday, November 15th at 11:00 pm via ArtCall.org. Artists must be able to deliver and pick up artwork in Salem; no shipments are accepted.

Accepted artwork will be exhibited at Elsinore Framing & Fine Art Gallery (444 Ferry St SE, Salem, OR 97301) during December. The exhibition opens with an Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony on Friday, December 5th. Drop-off is Friday, November 28th through Saturday, November 29th, 9:00-6:00. Pick-up of unsold artwork is Friday, January 2nd, 9:00-6:00 and Saturday, January 3rd, 10:00-5:00. Awards include Something Red Best of Show, Best Use of Color Red, Best Original Concept, Best Botanical, Best Use of Unconventional Materials, Therese Misner Sponsor Award, Elsinore Gallery Award, Honorable Mention, and People's Choice. Award winners will be announced during the opening reception and on AiA and Elsinore Gallery websites and social media.
