Solo Shows at Locust Grove, 2024-2025

Locust Grove Estate in Poughkeepsie, NY is announcing four solo show opportunities for 2-D artwork. Each 10-12 week show presents artists with the opportunity to exhibit 20-30 artworks in the Transverse Gallery at Locust Grove, a National Historic Landmark Museum, education center, and nature preserve which attracts over 90,000 visitors annually. Exhibition dates span Spring 2024 through Spring 2025, with one solo show per selected artist.

Application deadline is September 15, 2023, with an entry fee of $40. Applicants must submit exactly 10 images with dimensions and a one-page maximum artist statement. Entrants must be aged 18+. Jury selection will occur the last week of October, with notification by the second week of November.

Accepted artwork must be properly mounted and ready to hang from a track-type hanging system with two d-rings mounted on each side, about 1/3 down from the top of the piece. Artwork must not weigh more than 10 pounds and may not exceed 7 feet in height. Materials fastened to the front of pieces may not protrude more than 3 inches. Artwork may be for sale or exhibition only; if sold, the artist receives 75% and Locust Grove receives 25%. Locust Grove will oversee marketing through press releases, media lists, and social media (4,400+ mailing list subscribers, 6,000 Facebook followers, 3,100 Instagram followers). The artist is responsible for transporting and picking up artwork and any additional promotion beyond on-site signage provided by Locust Grove. Artists' discretion is requested for works appropriate for visitors of all ages, including school groups.
