About This Call
H Gallery + Studios is a 10,000 square foot contemporary art space located in Ventura, California, between Malibu and Ojai. The gallery includes a 3,000 square foot exhibition space, a 2,700 cubic foot suspended installation area, and 20 work studios. Opened in 2011, it is one of the most established contemporary spaces in the greater Los Angeles area.
This call seeks submissions for fall program and early 2023 exhibitions in both gallery and online formats. Exhibition lengths vary from 6 to 12 weeks for in-gallery shows and 3 to 6 months for online exclusives. Accepted artwork includes painting, printmaking, sculpture, glass, fiber, functional, digital, photography, installation, mixed media, and new genres. Submissions must include at least 3 images (up to 20), a biography and/or artist statement, artist website link, and links to at least one social media platform. All work must be original, unsold, and the artist must own sole copyright. 2D artwork must be ready to hang with professional quality frames, mats, and wiring. Featured artists are invited to attend receptions, and selected artists may be invited for recorded interviews or panel discussions.
Entry fee is $35 for 3 images, with additional images at $5 each (maximum 20 images). An optional video consultation with the gallery director is available for $100, providing detailed feedback on submissions and professional goals. Submissions are reviewed weekly with early considerations made prior to the final deadline. Notifications are sent via email generally within 2 weeks after the close of each calendar month. Selected artists receive either an immediate exhibition invitation or waitlist status, with waitlisted artists featured in at least one online exhibition within the calendar year. Gallery retains a 50% commission on all sales. Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping and insurance. Shipments must include prepaid UPS or FedEx return labels and be in reusable containers; no packing peanuts are permitted.
