About This Call
****CALL CANCELLED**** We apologize for the cancellation and will be refunding those who applied.
Exhibit your work in a unique 132 square foot exhibition space—a historical bank vault within The d'Art Center in the heart of Norfolk's NEON Arts District. The Vault showcases a solo show of one selected artist during the duration of the Main Gallery Exhibition. All styles and aesthetics are considered, and the space is open to functional, non-functional, 2D, 3D, fine art, and fine craft in all mediums. The Vault can fit between 12-15 pieces depending on work sizes. Proposed solo shows do not have to fit the theme of the Main Gallery exhibition, however artists are encouraged to propose a solo show based around the Main Gallery Exhibition theme.
This Vault opportunity runs concurrent with Persistence V: d'Art's Last Annual Juried National All Women's Exhibition (March 18 - April 11, 2023). Persistence V is only open to female artists living in the United States. The artist is selected through an open call and jury process that includes d'Art Center staff, professional artists, and gallery manager Amanda Bradley. Exhibition dates: Saturday, March 18, 2023 - Tuesday, April 11, 2023. Main Gallery Reception: Friday, March 24, 2023, 5:30-7:30pm. Notifications by email by 5pm, Tuesday, February 21, 2023.
Submission fee: $35.00 for up to 20 works. Submit 8-20 images via Call for Entries (CaFE). Work must arrive by end of day March 11, 2023 if shipping, or hand-delivered by pre-arrangement. Works cannot exceed 50 pounds or 60 inches in longest dimension (restrictions may be waived by contacting the gallery manager). All 3D works requiring special presentation must include those items; works requiring complicated specialized installation must be installed by the artist. All work must be hang/presentation ready. Gallery commission on sales is 60/40 (60% artist, 40% d'Art Center). Artists are responsible for shipping costs to and from the gallery and must provide pre-paid return labels via UPS or FedEx. d'Art Center insurance does not cover damage during shipping; artists should insure their work.
