SoL of Windsor - Sculpture on Loan Season 2

The Town of Windsor's SoL of Windsor sculpture walk showcases seven sculptures on the west end of Windsor Lake, along the Dr. Tom Jones Trail. The Dr. Tom Jones Trail sees over 150,000 visitors a year. The sculptures will be installed on August 31st - September 1st, 2026 and unveiled during the Windsor Harvest Festival on September 5th, 2026, which draws over 10,000 visitors to the Town each year.

Each selected artist will receive a $2,000 stipend for large works (fitting on 4'X5' plinths) or $1,200 for small works (fitting 2'X2' plinths). At the conclusion of the season, one sculpture will be awarded the People's Choice award of $750 based on community votes. Artists are required to be living or working in Colorado or a neighboring state (Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and Wyoming).

Sculptures should be garden size or larger and designed for long-term outdoor durability and ease of maintenance, including strong winds (the site sees winds reaching over 80mph). Acceptable materials include metal, stone, or similarly durable materials. Artwork must weigh no more than 5,000 lbs and be able to be welded to a metal display base. Three of the seven plinths are 2'X2'X2' tall with a 20"X20" steel plate inset; one is a 3' tall 2' cylinder with a 20" circular steel plate; and three are ground level pads 4X5' with 2 - 3'X1.5' steel plates. Sculptures taller than 12 feet may require stamped engineer drawings for permit prior to installation. Artists may submit a maximum of five sculptures for consideration, with each sculpture submitted as a separate application. Applications must include digital images in .jpg format (no more than five per sculpture), artwork details, and optionally a drawing, photo, or description of the base and attachment method. Application deadline is April 6, 2026, at 10:59 PM Mountain Time. Late April 2026 - artists will be notified of selection.
