Society of Watercolor Artists - 2023 International Juried Exhibition

The Society of Watercolor Artists invites artists 18 years and older to submit original watercolor paintings for the 2023 International Juried Exhibition. The exhibition runs April 15 - May 20, 2023. International entries are welcome, and membership is not required.

Artwork must be original water-media (traditional watercolors, acrylics, inks, or gouache) on watercolor paper or Yupo. Inks cannot cover more than 10% of the surface. Photographs may be used as reference only if taken by the submitting artist. Work must be completed within the last 3 years and cannot have been previously shown in any SWA juried exhibition. Collage, nudes, workshop pieces, copies of other artists' work, and digital reproductions are not permitted. Each artist may submit up to 3 paintings, but only 1 per artist is eligible for acceptance.

All paintings must be framed with plexiglass (no glass), using white or off-white mats with a minimum 2" visible mat width. Framed size must be between 15" and 42" in any direction, with minimum image size of 10" x 12". Frames cannot exceed 2" on each side. Work must hang by wire using D-rings or metal hardware. Entry fees are $40 for SWA members and $50 for non-members. Accepted works must remain available for the entire exhibition run. SWA retains a 25% commission on sales.
