Society of Animal Artists Membership Application

The Society of Animal Artists invites artists to apply for membership through a juried selection process. A jury of Signature Members reviews applications and determines artist membership based on excellence in artistic achievement. The SAA is not actively seeking to grow in membership numbers and maintains rigorous standards. Applicants will not receive feedback or critiques on declined work.

Applicants must submit 5 works of recent, high-quality art for jury consideration. For 3D works, two views are required for each artwork. The SAA does not consider photography, digitally generated art, or purely illustrative work for membership applications. Submissions must be original JPEG image files at least 2400 pixels on the longest edge with a maximum file size of 30 MB. Images should be cropped to show only the artwork without matting, frames, or background distractions, and must be oriented correctly. The jury evaluates work based on fine art quality, technical skill, creative and effective composition, mastery of medium, and for 2D work, demonstrated mastery in depicting light, color, and value; for 3D work, mastery of form, surface texture control, and effectiveness from all angles.

The jury fee is $40 (non-refundable). Entries may be edited until the deadline of January 15, 2026. Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the deadline.
