About This Call
Social Thoughts is an exhibition open to all artists over the age of 16 who reside in Indiana. The exhibit invites artwork addressing social issues—topics of national political interest that are subject of public debate and partisan advocacy. Broad interpretations of social issues are welcome, including conceptual and abstract works.
All fine art media are accepted including painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, photography, collage, digital, and mixed media. All work must be original and completed in the last two years. Sculptures should not exceed 9 feet in height. A maximum of 3 pieces can be entered per artist. All entries must be submitted through the CaFE website as high-resolution (300dpi) jpeg images not exceeding 5MB. For 3D works, a second detail photo may be uploaded.
Professional presentation is required. 2D artwork must be framed with a secure hanging method; canvas sides and staples must be covered. Sculptures must be fully assembled, structurally sound, and include detailed installation instructions if necessary. Delivery and pick-up of artwork is the artist's responsibility and may be done in person during gallery hours or by mail. Artists shipping work must use a sturdy, reusable box with a prepaid return shipping label. Exhibition dates are November 3-22, 2017, with an opening reception on November 3 from 5:30pm-8:00pm. Artwork delivery is October 18-21 and October 25-28, 2017. Pick-up is November 27-30, 2017 from 11:30am-5:30pm. Any work not picked up 30 days after the exhibition ends becomes the property of the gallery. Notifications to artists will be sent on or before October 13, 2017.
