SoCAL MFA Juried Exhibition

Claremont Graduate University is hosting the seventh annual Southern California MFA Annual Juried Exhibition, a juried show featuring a wide variety of artistic disciplines with an opening reception for the public. The exhibition highlights contemporary fine art by current and recent graduate students within Southern California. The call is open to current Southern California MFA Studio Art students and recent MFA graduates enrolled in Fall 2021 semester with a California address.

All mediums are welcome, including painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, glass, fiber, functional work, mixed media, digital media, sound/video, performance, sculpture, installation, and new genres. A spacious outdoor space is available for open-air pieces, and performances are welcome the night of the reception. Digital and video works must provide their own tech equipment such as projectors, TV monitors, and media players. The 2022 guest juror is Dion Johnson, an American artist based in Los Angeles whose work explores dynamic opposites through gradient color fields and hardedge abstraction.

Entry fee is $15.00 plus a $2.00 media fee. Applicants must submit 3-10 images, with up to 3 audio files and 3 video files permitted. Work must be dropped off in person May 25-27, 2022. No shipping or pickup is offered. The exhibition runs June 2 - July 2, 2022, with an opening reception on Saturday, June 4. Artwork pickup is available July 6-8, 2022. 100% of all sales go to the artist. The exhibition is located at Peggy Phelps & East Gallery, 251 East 10th Street, Claremont, California 91711.
