So You Think You Are Too Old to…

Hudson Valley MOCA's 5th Annual Juried Exhibition seeks works by artists 62 and older. The exhibition features artists who reached their creative prime in their more advanced years, exploring themes of aging, creativity, and artistic development across the lifespan. Artists are invited to address this overarching topic through painting, installation, photography, or other media platforms.

Eligibility: Artists from across the United States, 62 years or older. Original works only, executed during the past three years that have never been exhibited at Hudson Valley MOCA. Up to five works per artist may be submitted. Entry fee is $50 for HVMOCA Artist Members or $75 for non-members. Submission deadline is December 6, 2024. Artists will be notified of acceptance or decline by January 6, 2025. The exhibition runs February 1 - May 3, 2025, with an opening reception on February 1.

Work Requirements: Two-dimensional work must be framed and ready for installation with hanging hardware already installed; maximum 84 inches in any dimension and 75 pounds. Three-dimensional work cannot exceed 84 inches in any dimension and 100 pounds, and should be accompanied by a pedestal or be ready for freestanding display. All work requiring assembly must include detailed installation instructions with reference photos. Hudson Valley MOCA prohibits glitter, wet paint, sharp objects, open flames, balloons, spray, dangerous chemicals, weapons, pressurized containers, plants, animals, hazardous materials, or decaying materials. Shipped artwork must arrive between January 16-20, 2025. Hand deliveries accepted January 16, 18-19, 2025, or by appointment. Recognition: Viewer's Choice awards will recognize the top three works, with Artist's Membership awarded to winners. Hudson Valley MOCA takes 50% commission on sales; work does not have to be for sale if selected.
