So Real - Surreal

O'Hanlon Center for the Arts invites artists to submit works for the online gallery exhibition "So Real - Surreal," running November 15 - December 31, 2021. This juried exhibition explores contemporary expressions of surrealism and the absurd in our current moment. Artists are encouraged to submit works that express dreams, hallucinations, fanciful imaginings, and unconscious creativity through a uniquely distorted and bizarre lens. Contemporary, expressionistic, abstract, exploratory, and experimental entries are encouraged. The exhibition will be juried by Michael Yochum of ARC Fine Arts in San Francisco, CA.

Each artist may submit up to 3 individual pieces of artwork for consideration. Diptychs and Triptychs are considered 1 piece and must be submitted as one image. Film and video are not accepted at this time. Work does not need to be for sale. The entry fee is $40 for non-members and $30 for O'Hanlon members (use coupon code OH30). New members can join for $95/year and receive a free submission. The submission deadline is October 29, 2021 at 11 p.m. Pacific Time. Artists will be notified of results by email by Monday, November 8th. A zoomed roundtable art discussion to celebrate the show will be held on November 16 at 4 p.m. Pacific time, open to all.

The exhibition is open to all artists age 16 and over. Works previously shown at the O'Hanlon Gallery in-house or online are not eligible. Not all submitted artwork will be selected for exhibition. By submitting work, artists agree that photographic images and/or video of the artist and/or their artwork may be used by OHCA in various forms including print, online, and social media. For artwork sales within the first 60 days of the exhibition, artists agree to donate 30% of the sale price to OHCA.
