SNAG Jewelry and Metals Survey

SNAG is launching the Jewelry and Metals Survey (JAMS), an annual publication designed to increase visibility of the field and highlight the best new work being made in jewelry and metals worldwide. JAMS will showcase approximately 200 juried objects created in the previous year by emerging and established artists, as well as students. Work may be traditional or art jewelry, functional or non-functional objects, sculptural, architectural, public art, or design objects. Each year, a new jury of curators, artists, designers, gallery owners, and historians will select works based on creative and inventive use of medium, innovation in style and concept, technical proficiency and craftsmanship, form and aesthetics, consistency of quality, and other considerations determined by the jury. Each juror will write a brief essay, and included artists may provide contact information in the Directory section of the book.

SNAG invites artists, craftspeople, designers, public artists, and architects worldwide to submit images of new works focusing on metal and/or jewelry. Everyone from any sector of the field at any level of experience is encouraged to apply. Curators may also submit recent work purchased by their institution. Submissions must be digital photographs of actual objects designed and made between July 15, 2016 and September 15, 2017. Participants may submit one to three digital images, with three images of different pieces preferred, though up to three images of multiple views of one or two pieces are acceptable. One entry per artist is allowed. Images must be a minimum of 4 inches x 6 inches at 300 dpi (1200 x 1500 pixels), labeled as lastname_firstname_title.jpg or .tif, with file sizes limited to 25MB each. The entry fee is $45 ($20 for SNAG members). The JAMS book will be published in both e-book and print format in December 2017.
