SNAG Student Exhibition Call for Entries
The SNAG Annual Juried Student Exhibition "FUSION" will be held onsite in conjunction with the 2012 Society of North American Goldsmiths Conference at The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa. The exhibition theme focuses on fusion—the process of materials and objects melting and joining together under intense heat, and the blending of ideas, techniques, and materials in educational programs. The exhibition will showcase the best student work from any North American degree, diploma, or certificate-granting institution, with jurors selecting from a full range of metal and jewelry work, including traditional and non-traditional approaches.
Eligibility: All students (part-time or full-time) under faculty direction at North American degree/diploma/certificate-granting institutions are welcome to apply. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Images of up to three pieces of original artwork created during the 2010–2012 academic years can be submitted. Artworks included in previous SNAG student exhibitions or created before the 2009–2011 academic years are not eligible. Students must provide the name(s) of metal faculty teaching at their institution. SNAG membership is not required.
Entry Requirements: Submit one full-screen image for up to three pieces (one detail image for each piece may also be submitted). All work must be accompanied by title, material, dimensions, and year of completion. Submit an artist statement and one-page resume. Entry fee: $25 for SNAG student members, $35 for non-members. All applications must be submitted electronically through CaFÉ at www.callforentry.org by midnight Mountain Time, March 12, 2012. Work must be available from May 10–June 1, 2012. Timeline: March 12, 2012 – All entries due; April 10 – Notifications emailed; May 10-18 – Artwork received; May 26 – Exhibition closes; May 27-June 1 – Artwork returned. SNAG will insure the exhibition and pay all return shipping fees. Artists are responsible for all shipping charges and applicable customs fees to the exhibition site.
